Summary: Reinstalled fluorometer, adjusted boom and FD mount, swapped HMP45 solar shield, added connector for FD chamber.
| Mayberry 2020-06-16 I arrived at10:35. It was clear and sunny with the usual breeze from the west. The goats did an amazing job on the weeds. They also got into the tules a little near the radiation boom. The overall wetland looks kind of brown this year – lots of standing dead cattails. The water level was 16.5cm – we need a scratchy pad to clean the staff gauge. I took water samples from CDOM at 10:40. The water is greenish but looks a little brown in the vials. The water sensor boom has moved a little to the east due to wind. The guy wire was holding it a little higher in the water and the FD chamber was not in contact with the water. I’m not sure if this was due to the change in position. I added some slack to the guy wire and the FD chamber lowered to just touch the water. I adjusted its mount to lower it a couple more centimeters. I reinstalled the fluorometer sn 2300565. The power wires were backwards – that’s why it browned out the power last time and blew my 3A fuse this time. Black is +12V and white is G (go figure) it’s labeled on the cable. Now it has a 3A fuse inline and a DC-DC booster to bump the voltage to 24V. It seemed to be running okay – values in the thousands for turbidity and CDOM but the new red excitation chlorophyll sensor was reading zero. Every once in a while chlorophyll bounced up slightly. We will watch it for a bit. I collected the miniDot data. I swapped the HMP solar shield because the one on the tower was missing a bolt. We can clean it up in the lab and replace its bolt. The 7500 read: 407.7ppm CO2, 549.0mmol/m3 H2O, 22.4C, 101.4kPa, 98.2SS – 99.8 after cleaning The 7700 read: 1.93ppm CH4, 40RSSI – 81 after cleaning. I topped up the wash reservoir. I added a connector to the FD chamber cable and collected its data but did not clear its memory. I left at 12:20 |
