Summary: Bad USB ports on LattePanda - bypassed with USB hub, cows inside fences, zcam time issues partially fixed, swapped 7500s

Siyan, Sunny, Ray and I arrived at about 12:00. It was clear, sunny and warm with a nice breeze. The grass is a little greener here than at Vaira but still on its way to yellow. The pond never got completely full this year. The trees are fully leafed out and dark green now.

I checked on the LattePanda that Daphne had troubles with last time. It seems both of the v2.0 USB ports have died. This means no serial ports/radios and that the FLIR images did not get timestamped. I shut it down, added a USB hub to the v3.0 port and plugged everything back in. On reboot, everything seemed to be back to normal. Logger net automatically updated all the data files. I put one of the new SanDisk USB drive on and the FLIR files were getting renamed again. It might be nice to get a powered USB hub for this. The LattePanda online forum says check the power and try updating the BIOS.

I swapped the 7500s.
At the Tower sn 75H-2150 came off and sn 75H-2180 went on.
2150, 411.0ppm CO2, 275.4mmol/m3 H2O, 98.8kPa, 24.1C, 100.0SS
2180, 418.9ppm CO2, 224.6mmol/m3 H2O, 98.8kPa, 24.8C, 101.3SS
I updated the pressure coefficients and reset the box

At the Floor sn 1594 came off and sn 75H-2514 went on.
1594, 411.9ppm CO2, 311.0mmol/m3 H2O, 98.9kPa, 28.3C, 96.9SS
2514, 419.8ppm CO2, 273.3mmol/m3 H2O, 99.2kPa, 27.5C, 100.3SS
I updated the pressure coefficients and reset the box

Cows got through the Floor solar fence – the grass IRT was pointed at the sky. Cows also got through the soil co2 fence. There they tilted the Open FD chamber and leaned on the post holding the soil co2 23x box. I righted the FD chamber and tied it down again but it doesn’t have as tight a fit against the soil as it did previously. I also pulled out a bit of dead grass that had sprouted inside the chamber. The cows also chewed on our tipping bucket wire and the OSU net radiometer cable – neither look compromised. The pair of smaller solar panels were also tilted to the north.

I collected the FD chamber data and cleared their memories.

I fixed the broken terminal on the SLA battery at the IRT tree. It all seemed fine and it was sending data to the LattePanda.

Siyan did midday water potential, well measurements, soil moisture, DBH and clip plots.

I serviced the z-cams. The CR6 program had a bug in it where it was using day-of-week instead of day-of-year to calculated sunset. I fixed that. However, looking at the files I discovered that the clock battery for z-cam 1 has died and its clock is reset to 1908 each time it is power on. I also found an offset of about an hour between the z-cam 1 and z-cam 2 clocks. This has been happening since at least November last year. I think z-cam 2 is correct but need to check next time in the field.
