Summary: Vairas and others out to look at the fire damage, quick data collection, mild weather.

Siyan and I arrived at about 9:45. Jim and Dale Vaira were at the gate with other local ranchers and land owners â€“ a handful of big trucks and trailers. They were there to assess the damage to fences and pasture caused by the fire. Jim said about 60 to 80 acers of their land burned. They hoped to get some reimbursement for their loss. Due to the traffic we went to Tonzi first and came back about 1pm. At that time most of the crew were parked near our site and were headed out.

The weather was very mild for this time of year. Patchy clouds were coming in from the southeast and there was a strong cool breeze blowing. It felt like tropical moisture. The ground is still very dry, the water hole is empty and the trees are senescing. We did not go to the pond.

We quickly collected data and headed home. No problems found. We did not do spectral due the variable light conditions.
