Summary: Moved tower closer to the corn field, removed 7700 to replace power board, StarDot camera installed
| Arrived around 11:00. The weather was sunny and clear. All soil sensors were installed in the footprint. The tower was moved forward to the edge of the corn field. The radiation sensor is now over the corn. The 7700 (sn TG1-0421) was removed for service with the wash box. All the cables were left on the tower. The StarDot phenocam sn 0030F4D21491 was put up on the southwest corner of the scaffolding just below the top railing and connected the to NL115 on the CR1000 to record the images on a CFM card. The CR1000 IP was set to 192.168.2.100 and the FTP user=Tower and pw=biomet. EC instruments cleaned before original values were taken. LI7500 readings: CO2 395 H2O 675 T 27.6 P 101.45 SS 86 Took spectral data at 11:15 PDT/ 10:15 PST. Took down-up spectral reflectance. Dennis tripped and fell in a spud ditch and stopped to clean off the sensor, so the data restarts. At 11:25, a second round of corn spectral reflectance was taken. Six samples of down-up data were taken with their own reference/dark measurements. The readings were taken by hitting the “SAMPLE†button, not the “SAVE†button, so the data may not have been saved. Took vegetation height measurements. Vegetation Height (cm): Walking out: 93, 138.5, 132, 143, 146, 139, 135, 134, 139, 131 Walking back: 163, 148, 153, 165, 151, 145, 163, 148, 101, 119 Took biomass samples and row width to help estimate total biomass in the field. Row width: 87 cm Biomass Samples: Site 1: 6 plants – no sample Site 2: 7 plants – 4 plants (I) Site 3: 7 plants – no sample Site 4: 8 plants – 4 plants (II) Site 5: 8 plants – no sample Site 6: 7 plants – 3 plants (III) Site 7: 6 plants – no sample Site 8: 8 plants – 5 plants (IV) Site 9: 8 plants – no sample Site 10: 8 plants – 4 plants (V) Attempted to take LAI data. The probe used was LAI probe 4057. Took single wand above and below. Reading of LAI for corn. Perfectly clear. Using the 45 slit. Left at around 12:00. |
