Summary: Moved EC into water at TT1. Regular data collection at permanent tower, TT2, and TT3.
East End The weather was sunny, clear and hot. Permanent Tower Arrived at 11:35. Collected USB GHG data and met data. Sent new met program. Air pressure issues were fixed with the new program (new level is 101.6). Removed camera CF card but had left new CF card with Joe at TT1. Came back later (approximately at 1pm) to replace CF card. Checked serial number of outgoing NDVI sensor: sn 2046503344 LI7500 readings: CO2 416.05 H2O 699.5 T 25.4 P 101.5 SS 93.7 -> 93.9 LI7700 readings: CH4 1.95 RSSI 55 -> 85.8 Open Water T1 We arrived about 9:30. It was hot, sunny and a bit hazy. The wind was only a breath of breeze and almost none below the canopy. Collected USB and MET data. There was a corrupt file on the USB, but a scan fixed it. We moved the eddy tower about 60m (200ft) to the south. We set up a layer and a half of scaffolding at the eastern edge of the big open water area. The scaffolding is next to the edge of cattails to the north. We ran a 14 gauge wire from the solar panels through the dense stand of cattails to the tower. I converted the solar panels to a 24V system. I didn’t have the security bolt wrenches with me and the frame was blocking the junction boxes on the back of the panels. I was able to pry the boxes partially open and then cut holes in the lids to match the terminal screws inside. The wires were attached to the solar panels and the batteries with crimped spades half of which were loose where they were crimped to the wires. I removed all the crimped spade terminals and ran the wires directly to the connections. All the eddy equipment was reinstalled on the scaffolding. The HMP45 was connected to the analog inputs on the LI-7700. The plates on the solar shield were in the wrong order blocking the sensor from being inserted properly. I fixed this and connected the fan, but the fan did not seem to be running. Height of Sonic (mid path from water level): 4.20m Sonic Boom: 128 from magnetic north -> 142 from true north Radiometer Serial Number: sn 990352 PAR Serial Number: sn 040412 LI7500 readings: CO2 409.59 H2O 617.5 T 25.53 P 101.87 SS 108.13 LI7700 readings: CH4 2.29 RSSI 10.8 Left around 14:30 Closed Canopy T2 Arrived at 10:40. Wash reservoir was full. Missing Ethernet connector. Collected USB GHG data and met data. Recorded long and lat: 38.1060003, -121.6417465 Bring spare SHF_1 next time. Collected MET and data from CF card from CR1000 flux and replaced card. Cleaned eddy sensors. Replaced wooden radiation pole by metal pole. Cleaned solar panels. SHP1 is NaN.
