Twitchell Rice: 2016-11-08 09:30:00 (DOY 313)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Elke, Dennis, Kyle
Summary: Field disked, moved tower into the field and reinstalled ground sensors.
Twitchell Rice 2016-11-08 I arrived about 9:30 with Dennis, Kyle and Elke. It was warm and hazy with little to no wind. The field has been completely disked now. We met Bruce later in the day and he said that they are still finishing up the harvest but already had 26 loads of rice which is almost as much as last year and they only planted about 2/3 of the fields this year. He also said that the rice would not dry out after they drained the fields so they had to spray it with salt water to kill the rice. They will be re-flooding the fields in a week or two. We moved the tower back in to the field. The tower was leveled and the heading and height were measured. The sonic heading is 19deg east of magnetic north (33deg east of true). The center of the sonic path is 318cm above the ground. The soil temperature rods were repaired and installed with the SHF plates and Campbell soil moisture probes. Dennis reinstalled the well and the DO sensor. The well sensor is 140cm below the top of the pipe and the DO is 70cm below the top of the pipe. The top of the pipe is 50cm above the ground surface. Two lengths of boardwalk were reinstalled. The 7700 read: 2.14ppm CH4, 36.6RSSI – 71.3 after cleaning The 7500 read: 408.7ppm CO2, 701.3mmol/m2 H2O, 18.9C, 102.58kPa, 89.47SS – 93.9 after cleaning The 7700 wash reservoir was half empty – refilled. The camera was off and I forgot to bring the memory card adapter. I restarted the camera. |
