Summary: Regular data collection, fixed TS32cm TC and soil moisture probe
Arrived at 11:05. It was sunny, warm and clear with almost no wind. The rice was harvested but the field was still dry and the rice stubble was still on the field. It looked like they had had sheep grazing on the field but the sheep did not seem to have eaten the rice straw, only the cattails and the grass on the berms. The field was not disked yet so we left the tower out of the field. Refilled wash reservoir, was half empty. Cleaned GHG sensors. LI7700 RSSI was really low when we got there but went back up after cleaning. Probably caused by the recent rains. The camera was off and there were only about 2 days of images on the card. Collected USB GHG data, collected met data from CR1000. There were lots of wasps in the datalogger box but they were all at the very bottom between the cables, so didn’t affect us much. Left some more mothballs in the box, but they didn’t seem to bother the wasps at all. Repaired TS32cm TC, a splice in the cable had broken and Joe soldered it back together. Now working again. CS615_SM2 probe was not connected to the control port. Probably the cable got torn out this summer with the strong pull from the weeds as they tangled up our cables. Reconnected the cable to control port C6 together with the other CS615 sensor. Checked the program and this is the only control port that is switched on, so it should be the right one. The SM2 sensor was now reading the same number as the SM1 sensor which was working fine previously, so it seems to be working. But both of them are in air right now, so can only tell if they work once we put them back in the field. Measured the sonic boom angle, new sonic heading is 332 degrees from magnetic north, so 346 from true north. We need two new fiberglass rods for the soil TCs and retape everything before we put things back out in the field! LI7500 readings: CO2 437.26 umol/mol H2O 713.6 mmol/m3 T 20.98 Celsius P 102.18 kPa SS 93.14 -> 96.3 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4: 1.2 -> 2.1 RSSI: 2 -> 68.8 after cleaning Left at 9:40 |
