Summary: Wet, but pond only half full, improved Floor power, service z-cams, brought in tram - dead battery, fixed cow fences, fixed loose stuff at tower top.

I arrived about 10:00 with Siyan. We have had several days of heavy rain, but today is mostly sunny and warm. The land all around is very green with new grass. Tonziâ€™s pond is still only about half full, but the ground is becoming soggy and there is standing or running water in all the low spots.

The main task for today is to improve the power for the Floor Tower. When we got there the Floor solar system was off due to low voltage. I disconnected all the batteries. The two to the east that had low water last time I checked, immediately fell to around 9V. The other four stayed above 11V. Using the resistive tester, all the batteries tested bad, but they were severely discharged. I reconnected the four maybe good batteries and they started to charge and rose to near 13V with about 15A of solar power coming in.

I tested the line to the tower. It had a resistance of about 0.5 Ohms, which I think is good. With the batteries at 13V and pulling 0.8A to the tower, the voltage at the tower was 12.89V. Pulling 2.0A to the tower the voltage dropped to 12.45V. So not too much power loss in the line.

I looked at the solar panel junction boxes and discovered that most of them had been stuffed with acorns, probably by woodpeckers. One box at the top had the insulation broken on the wires leading to the charge controller. I was able to cut off the bad parts and reattach the wires. I tried to cover up the holes in the boxes with electrical tape.

After charging for a while under mostly sunny skies, the batteries were at 13V. I removed the solar power and the voltage immediately dropped to 12.5V and slowly settled to 12.2V, but seemed relatively stable. I hope this will be better. Canâ€™t get much worse.

The compute stick at the tower had locked up again. Only some phenocam images were lost.

I serviced the z-cams. The lids on z-cam 2 and 3 were not screwed down. Z-cam 1 still had a little condensation inside but looked much drier than last time.

The tram was not running and would not reset. The battery is dead. I brought it in.

The cow fences around the floor and tram were broken, I fixed them.

Some of the split loom on the radiation boom had come loose and the spikes on the sonic were twisted. I fixed both of these.
