Author: Cove Sturtevant
Others: Dennis, Sara, Yanel
Summary: Dennis grabbed truck from the trailer, battling wasps (wasps lost). Regular field work (including LAI). All well.
Twitchell Rice 2013-07-31 We arrived about 11:45 PDT. It was sunny, warm (23 C), and moderately breezy. Dennis grabbed his truck at the trailer to take it for a smog check and we helped him eradicate many wasp nests in the doors, hood, and tailgate. The battle was tough and prolonged, but we prevailed in the end. When we got to the tower, I checked the readings while Yanel did spectral, Sara and Dennis did clip plots (including roots too), and later Sara did LAI on the north transect only. The water level was high today. The rice continues to grow slowly. 7500 readings: CO2 = 380 ppm (same after cleaning) H2O = 650 mmol m-3 (same after cleaning) signal strength = 79.95% (80.17% after cleaning) t = 23.1 C p = 102.15 kPa sos = 347.2 m s-1 7700 readings: CH4 = 1.85 ppm variable by 0.1 (1.92 and more stable after cleaning) RSSI = 37.1 (bumped to 73.5 after cleaning) Reservoir was full. I verified that the 7700 output rate was 20 Hz (viewed from the settings in the 7700 program). I didnt think to check this setting last week when I bumped the flux system to 20 Hz, but was glad to see that it was either already set at 20 Hz or updated automatically. This was also the case at West Pond. The only one I havent double checked is Mayberry, and will do so next week. MET data looked good. |
