Summary: Standard field work, broke USB drive with Vaira data on it, CO2 profile IRGA railed - brought in, checked settings on Tonzi Tower diffuse PAR, MD9 sporadic.

Phenology: grass mature and died out: 80%-90% at Vaira, 50% at Tonzi; getting drier



Summary
  1. Checked and downloaded data from PC at Tower, Floor.
  2. MD9 still didn’t work properly all the time. It wasn’t working when I was there, but it worked about 8 days ago.
  3. Download data at Vaira by connecting to dataloggers directly, but USB memory stick may be damaged. Images had been deleted from the card of datalogger.
  4. Swapped memory cards of CR1000s at three sites. All worked well.
  5. Gashound for CO2 profile system read #INF, taken back to the lab.
  6. Visited Tonzi diffusion light sensor, unit was umol m-2 s-1.
  7. Collected grass samples for aboveground biomass.
  8. Read dendrometers
  9. Measured midday water potential of oak leaves and pine needles
  10. Measured soil moisture
  11. Measure groundwater well:

Vaira_Grass Site
  1. Fence and gate power: 12 v
  2. download images from the card in a CR1000.
  3. Swapped the memory cards of CR1000.
  4. Check the fans of air temp and relative humidity sensors at Vaira. YES!
  5. Download Met and soil CO2 profile from dataloggers.
  6. Check levels of Radiation sensors, clear up surfaces.YES!
  7. Check rain gage, make sure not clogged. YES!
  8. Closed gate and set up fence. YES!
  9. Collected grass for aboveground biomass.

Tonzi_Tower Site

  1. Fence and gate power: 12 v.
  2. Reading from Gillsonic screen before downloading data. (The value of H2O and CO2 should be in the range of 0 – 5 v.)


  1. downloading data from PC.
  2. Swapped the memory cards of CR1000.
  3. check the fans of air temp. and relative humidity sensors on the tower and the floor. YES!
  4. Gashound for CO2 profile system read #INF, taken back to the lab.

Toniz_Floor Site
  1. Fence and gate power: 12 v.
  2. Reading from Gillsonic screen before downloading data. (The value of H2O and CO2 should be in the range of 0 – 5 v.)
