Summary: Moved tram to new location, moved data off Tower computer, checked cabling, mounting for diffuse and 4-band radiometers. Leaf out!

I arrived about 10am with Siyan, Dennis and Martin. It was mostly clear, sunny and warm with a light breeze. It was blowing pretty good in the Delta both in the morning and in the evening. The trees have leafed out, probably around March 19th according to the Phenocam photos. The ground is damp only in the low spots and the grass still mostly only about 10 cm high.

We moved the tram today. We unbolted a splice to break the track into two pieces and then carried each piece to the new location tripods and all. The new location is on the rise to the south west of the tower near the cow path. It is in a group of trees known as Cluster 2 from the root survey work. The track was reassembled, straightened and leveled. The 24V solar system was also relocated and a new cow fence was constructed around the location. There is line of site to the tower and the wireless link worked. Adjusting the tram wheel base to be a little wider seemed to work too and the tram car made it down the track without derailing.

Siyan did all the standard field work and fixed the tower top HMP45 fan by finding a loose wire. She also serviced the z-cams.

I checked out mounting and cable runs for the new diffuse PAR sensor and 4-band radiometer. The diffuse PAR sensor cable will need to be extended to about twice its current length.

The disk drive on the tower computer is getting full. I moved some of the 2008 raw data off and on to a USB stick, so it is oaky for now. I restarted the computer before leaving because Windows was acting strange – the task bar disappeared off the bottom of the screen. On reboot the sonic was detected as a serial mouse. I got it disabled in the Device Manager and reran winflux.

Jessica and Sonya have been there again and installed a new profiler.
