task: Survey grass species with Rebecca

weather: clear, nice temperature 59 - 77 oF

Vaira:
Walking along three transects (~250 m long each) around the flux tower. Every two step (~1 m), Rebecca identified the plant that her medal pointer pointed to. About 450 samples in total.

Tonzi:
Walking along seven transects (~150 m long each) around John Battles’ biomass sampling area. Every two step (~1 m), Rebecca identified the plant that her medal pointer pointed to. About 500 samples in total.

First impression of this year – 2011 – dominant grass and ford species:
Vaira: Bromus_Diardrus, Bromus hordeaceous, Trifolium hirtum, Taeniatherum caput-medusea
