I arrived about 15:10 PDT. Charlotte had told me yesterday that the tractor work was done. She had all her chambers out already and there were corn sprouts coming up. The tower is about 5m from where the corn was planted. We will have to move it closer.

I removed the soil sensors from under the tower (except for the Theta probe) and moved them to the first row of the planted field. The soil moistures sensors all went in vertically with the tines starting about 10cm below the surface. We will have to move these again when the tower is moved, but at least they now reflect the field conditions better than the heavy grass under the tower.

Carlos had reported that the rotating shadow band wasn’t working yesterday. It seemed to be turning when I got there but I found that the shaft coupler inside the box was loose. Tightening the two Allen screws fixed it.

I removed the two PRI sensors sn 897103002 out and sn 913003004 in. There cables were disconnected from the data logger and just hanging on the tower.

Carlos did the data work here yesterday but I have been trying to set up a NR01 net radiometer I got from Patty from Eden Landing for an inter-comparison for many weeks now. This site had an open excitation channel and to differential channels on the CR1000. I made a new program to add the NR01 measurements storing the data in a separate table. I downloaded the met data then uploaded the new program. I got it all wired up but couldn’t get a good temperature reading. I left the new program running but brought the sensor back to the lab to test.

I left at about 16:15 PDT
