Summary: Standard data collection, swapped 7500 for calibration, restarted shadow band motor - for now, set summer hours for 7700 heaters, conductivity sensor was clean, Picam misbehaving - maybe running for now.
East End 2025-05-09 I arrived at about 13:50 PDT. It was clear, sunny and hot with very little breeze. The wetland still looks pretty brown from the tower but tules are coming up. The water was high at 85cm. I did the usual data collection of flux and met but had problems with the picam. It started to download the image archive then hung up and I lost connection to it. I restarted the laptop and cycled power on the picam. It let me connect the displayed the web page, but each time I tried to download the image archive it hung up soon after starting. I decided to let it run and will try swapping it out next time. I swapped the 7500 for calibration: sn 1594 came off and sn 75h-2667 went on. 1594 dirty read: 429.8ppm CO2, 624.3mmol/m3 H2O, 33.0C, 101.5kPa, 93.8SS 1594 clean read: 441.2ppm CO2, 489.2mmol/m3 H2O, 95.9SS 2667 fresh read: 433.1ppm CO2, 494.3mmol/m3 H2O, 33.6C, 101.4kPa, 96.9SS The 7700 read: 2.09ppm CH4, 37.6RSSI - 75.4 after cleaning I uploaded the new config, set the pressure coefficients and restarted the box. I refilled the reservoir – it was about half empty. I changed the 7700 heater setting to summer hours 20:00 to 06:00 instead of 18:00 to 08:00. I checked the Campbell conductivity sensor - it was clean. Patty had reported that the shadow band wasn’t turning weeks ago during a meeting at the site about validating carbon credits. Pulling on the motor power wires got it running again. I banged on the motor case thinking to knock carbon off the contacts. Probably not a long term fix but it kept running the entire time I was at the site. It’s an older motor. Better to set up a whole new one in the lab to be ready to swap out. I had the last fresh miniCh4 with me set to measure continuously when powered. I put it in the water while I was at the site. Conductivity Surface, 222.7uS, 15.2C I left at 14:38 PDT |
