Summary: Swapped 7500 for calibration, replaced damaged horizontal brace on tower, fixed wash settings, rain storms in past few weeks caused short power outage
Kyle, Daphne, Joe and Charlie (undergraduate doing mesocosm studies of peat core chemistry in tidal cycling) arrived at the tower 12:20 PST. We walked in from the parking lot, the ground was moist but not flooded. Weather was mostly overcast with the breeze picking up. There were some rain storms in the past several weeks which caused us to lose about a day of data. Daphne trained Kyle in how to do data downloading, Kyle downloaded the data (met, cam, GHG). The camera photos seem complete for once, so using a new CF card solved our previous problem with only a few days of photos getting saved. Joe cleaned the bird poop off the solar panels. Charlie cleaned and swapped the IRGA. IRGA sn 0418 came off and sn 0041 went on. We updated the configuration file and updated the pressure coefficients. After the swap, there was a 7700 time sync error. Kyle fixed it by adjusting the 7550 clock to match the laptop clock (<1 min difference). She restarted logging and the time sync error went away. The wash water reservoir was full, despite having multiple rainstorms recently. We checked if the wash system was working by manually triggered mirror spin and spraying – both worked fine. Then we discovered that the wash settings were not enabled, explaining why the system wasn’t using any wash water. We fixed this. 0418 old read: 425ppm CO2, 468 mol/m3 H2O, 16.7C, 101.99 kPa, 98.6 SS 0041 fresh read: 440ppm CO2, 380 mol/m3 H2O, 16.6C, 101.9 kPa, 98.3 SS The 7700 read: 2.1 ppm, RSSI 29 – 80 after cleaning After calibration the CO2 reading was significantly higher from 425 to 440, keep an eye on this. Joe added a horizontal cross brace and bolt to repair the brace the cows broke. We left at 13:25 PST. |
