Summary: Low tide, swapped 7500 for calibration, removed weeds near ADCP, downloaded channel miniDOT, bird recorder out of battery
2024-05-07 Gilbert Tract Kyle and I arrived at 9:10 PST (10:10 PDT). It was cool, sunny, and breezy with a few clouds near the horizon. We had a small rainstorm a few days ago, and that's probably the last of the rain this season. The wetland continues to green up. It was near low tide and the staff gauge read 36cm at 9:38 PST. Kyle cleaned flux and rad sensors. The wash reservoir was 90% full; she refilled it. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I changed the 7700 heater from winter to summer hours. Previously, the heater turned on from 18:00 to 08:00, now the heater will turn on from 20:00 to 06:00. We swapped the LI-7500A for calibration: sn 0418 came off and sn 75H-2514 went on. I uploaded a new config file, updated the pressure coefficients, and reset the 7550. I confirmed that the USB was logging and the 7700 was ok (no time sync error). Old 0418 read: 424ppm CO2, 495mmol/m3 H2O, 18.3C, 101.8kPa, 104SS Fresh 2514 read: 433ppm CO2, 487mmol/m3 H2O, 18.2C, 102.1kPa, 98SS The 7700 read: 2.05ppm CH4, 48RSSI – 84 after cleaning I checked the Song Micro Meter and only saw one file from the past 2 weeks. I brought it back to the lab to test it. Its battery level was 25%. Kyle measured the surface water conductivity off of the boardwalk pier. Sample, Temperature-compensated conductivity, Temperature, Notes Surface, 325 uS, 15.2C, Low tide We went to the channel around 9:45 PST. Kyle reset the ADCP clock, downloaded data, and restarted logging. We pulled the ADCP for its routine quarterly check. I wiped down the plastic covers of the transducers. Kyle downloaded the channel miniDOT and swapped its desiccant. I got in the water by the railing and removed rooted weeds, clearing a strip about 30cm on either side of the railing. The area in front of the ADCP that is covered with the concrete panels still felt clean. Some of the weeds rooted on either side of the ADCP probably drift in front of it as the tide goes in and out. We left at 10:15 PST (11:15 PDT). |
