Summary: We installed 10 more porewater sippers in the non-vegetated area, and sampled existing sippers.

We arrived at the site around 10:15am on a beautiful clear day. Our goal was to install 10 more porewater sippers in the non-vegetated area in front of the tower, and to sample the existing sippers. We were able to extract samples from all 5 recently-installed sippers in the non-vegetated area (data below). New sippers were installed at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 cm depth (2 of each). Prior to pushing the sipper into the sediment I pulled surface water into the sipper to remove air. After pushing sipper down to desired depth I pushed 60 mLs of surface water into the sipper to "develop" it.

All installed sippers have 2 color bands. The band closest to the sediment is the color for that profile, and the band closest to the top designates the depth. Yellow = 10cm, red = 20cm, white = 30 cm, black = 40 cm, and green = 50 cm. "open" profiles are those in non-vegetated areas, "veg" are those in vegetated areas.

After finishing work in the non-vegetated area we returned to the boardwalk and sampled the sippers installed in the vegetated areas. All sippers that I previously developed were still working, but some of the non-developed sippers are clogged and need to be replaced on a future visit.

We left the site around 1:30.
