Summary: Cows destroyed everything again! Tree still not full, Removed GP343 #3 for testing

Jackie and I arrived at about 12:00 PDT. Happy Earth Day. It was clear sunny and warm with only some thin cirrus and contrails. The puddles on the road have dried out a bit with only the big puddle near the tower still having water. The trees still don’t seem to have full leaves. Some of the leaves look like they might have been damaged by fungus or insects.

Cows destroyed everything again. They destroyed the fence around the Tower and ate an Ethernet line on Troy’s SIF trailer. They also:
Unplugged Zcam2 – plugged back in and working
Tilted Zcam1 and rotated Zcam3 – righted.
Chewed three SHF plate wires – the two with new cables I spliced with screw terminals. SHF #3 sn 000139 was pulled out of the ground. I brought it in to splice.
They also ate the wires off HISE ptden set four – brought box sn 4083-1 and sensor sn DS-104 in for repair.
Ate the rest of the IRT tower – removed IRT sn 1965, CR1000 sn 66249, radio sn 32468, solar panel and a lithium power pack.
Chewed the solar panel off the Road well – spliced with a screw terminal. There was 12V flowing but I couldn’t get the old laptop to boot to check on it.
Dumped the leaf water potential table and pole saw – nothing broken.

Jackie did the manual soil moisture and well measurements. Then she repaired cow fences and service Zcam2. Power was on the tower cow fence and looked strong when we left.

I collected the Tower top data, the Floor flux and well data, the FD data (amazingly not disturbed by cows this time), and read the dendrometers.
The Tower read: 430.5ppm CO2, 674.5mmol/m3 H2O, 24.8C, 98.3kPa, 104.3SS
The Floor read: 421.2ppm CO2, 674.6mmol/m3 H2O, 27.9C, 98.5kPa, 103.2SS

I troubleshot the Tower CO2 profile system. The pressure sensor was unplugged. Plugging it in, the pressure looked okay and CO2_1, 2 and 4 looked okay but CO2_3 was bad. It seemed to be sending data but not the expected values. I brought the sensor sn N2210009 in for testing.

I looked for the SHF plates at soil co2. The data of one looked different after the cows trampled everything a few weeks ago. I didn’t have the tools or time to find them. Probably digging them up and reinstalling them is the way to go.

I put HISE ptden set #1 back up. I strapped box sn 4084-1 and the solar panel higher on the tree hopefully out of the reach of the cows. I put a new sensor sn DS-410 on with a locking washer. It’s within reach of the cows but nothing to be done about that. I collected the data from the other three (2, 3 and 5) HISE sets – data seemed complete. I also collected the TOMST denrometer data again to compare with the HISE to explore gap filling.
