Summary: Install 7550, install FD chamber, storm prep, rain rain and more rain
2023-03-08 Bouldin Corn I arrived around 11:00 PST. Today was an out-of-cycle visit to replace the dead 7550 I removed last week. Licor will also be visiting next week to install a prototype ET sensor, either here or at Bouldin Alfalfa depending on their power needs. I wanted to make sure all was working at BC before Licor arrived. It was a pretty day, blue skies and sunny with lots of puffy cumulus clouds and a cold wind from the west. There was visible snow on Mt. Diablo. More atmospheric rivers forecasted for this weekend and early next week. Charlotte's chambers are out in the field but they didn't seem to move while I was there. The field is still draining and has only a few wet spots left. There's a slight depression running from one of the wet spots to the drain in the southeast corner of the field. I installed 7550 sn AIU-0674 and renamed it to BC-0674. I uploaded the latest config for the current head, sn 0041. Numbers looked fine and I confirmed the GHG columns looked ok, the 7700 was connected, and the USB was logging. The 7500 read: 423ppm CO2, 282mmol/m3 H2O, 11.2C, 102.2kPa, 101SS The 7700 read: 1.97ppm CH4, 77RSSI I also installed FD chamber sn FD20180026 on a short collar under the southwest corner of the scaffolding. I set its clock, deleted a few lines of old data, and confirmed it was logging. I downloaded met and cam data. I skipped the PA and IRT data. The white body of the Theta probe was a bit exposed so I pushed it down about 2cm until only the cable junction was exposed. The HMP fan was dead; I replaced it. I found the precip screen in the field, close to where we found the funnel last time, and put it on the precip bucket. It doesn't have that circular wire to keep it in place, though. Maybe we have a spare in the lab. I removed the boardwalks in prep for the upcoming storms and checked the tie-downs. The ones on the south side of the tower were just barely loose so I tightened those. The ones on the north side of the tower were fine. I left at 12:20 PST. |
