Bouldin Corn: 2022-08-31 09:10:00 (DOY 243)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Daphne, Carlos

Summary: Swapped 7500 from calibration, removed z-cam, couldn't connect to FD chamber, look for missing USB stick next time. No harvest yet but maybe soon.

Bouldin Corn
2022-08-31

Daphne, Carlos and I arrived at 9:10 PDT. It was clear and mild with a nice breeze above the corn. They are growing a bunch of tomatoes along Hwy 12 just east of Hwy 160. No evidence of impending harvest in any of the Bouldin fields. Tyler texted a day later to say they removed their stuff from the field. The corn is still mostly green, but some brown patches are beginning to show up.

I walked into the corn to find the four spots we took soil cores from for Ameriflux and get the GPS coordinates. Harder to find than I thought, but I think I got them okay. I also measured veg height and the height of the PL arable (4.15m agl). Veg height was about the same as the clip plots from a couple weeks ago so I don’t think it’s growing any more.

Daphne and Carols collected data and cleaned the sensors. They also swapped the 7500 for calibration: sn 0065 came off and sn 75H-2180 went on.
0065 dirty read: 423ppm CO2, 660mmol/m3 H2O, 24.2C, 101.4kPa, 101SS
0065 clean read: 427ppm CO2, 656mmol/m3 H2O, 24.1C, 101.4kPa, 103SS
2180 fresh read: 420ppm CO2, 620mmol/m3 H2O, 24.5C, 101.4kPa, 100SS
The 7700 read: 2.0ppm CH4, 53RSSI – 78 after cleaning
The new 7500 config was uploaded, pressure coefficients fixed, eddy clock adjusted by +70sec and the box was restarted. No notes on wash reservoir.

Daphne removed a small wasp nest from the IRT box.

The z-cam sn RPI0W-002 was removed from the between row location since LAI has maxed out and the corn is senescing. The images still need to be collected in the lab.

The bag of memory cards and sticks got dumped. An empty Licor USB might still be laying under the tower.

I replaced the LI-7550 face plate screws we stripped the heads of last time.

We could not connected to the FD chamber again. We tried two different USB cables and cycled the power but could not make a serial connection. The chamber was buzzing so it is probably still running okay.

We left at 9:50 for BA
