Gilbert Tract

Dennis, Robert, and I arrived at 15:15 PST. It was cold, foggy and hazy, and there was a slight breeze. It smelled faintly like smoke (probably somebody’s fireplace).

I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. The eosGP sensor that we extended last time had a lot of gaps in the first week but looks ok now. However, the sensor looks maxed out since then. Data from the water level sensor, the other sensor we extended last time, looked ok.

There was no NDVI/PRI data for the past 2 weeks because I forgot to reconnect the C wire after rearranging the wiring for the water sensor extension cable at the last visit. I reconnected the C wire and confirmed the NDVI/PRI data looked reasonable.

The 7700 TC here was broken, and I just happened to have a spare today because I had brought an extra for the HS swap. After the swap, the 7700 temperature was 13.7 degC. However, the 7550 temperature dongle was not working as it was reading 60 degC, even after dis- and reconnecting the dongle. I opened the dongle but nothing seemed obviously wrong. This is one of our homemade dongles we made from the 7500 calibration hoods and has 2 splice points, so maybe moisture got in one of the splices. I can make another one.

Robert and Dennis cleaned the flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir.

Dennis installed a Bushnell game cam on the side of the levee about 20m north of the tower, looking north. The game cam is set to take 10sec of videos after it detects motion and the SD card I think will hold about 3 hours of video. The camera is powered with lightly used lithium AA batteries so it may die suddenly.

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 552ppm
H2O 513ppm
T 60C (too high, need new T dongle)
P 101.8kPa
SS 96 --> 100 after cleaning
LI7700 readings:
CH4 ??ppm --> 2.7 after TC swap
RSSI 38 --> 85 after cleaning

We left at 15:45 PST.

Back in the lab, I discovered only a few days of photos + a whole bunch of folders labeled with gibberish names on the stardot camera card. I moved the photos to the DataPC and tried to do Recuva, which did not unearth any new photos. I did a Quick Format in case that would solve an indexing problem. After the Quick Format, there were no files left on the card. I did a Full reformat of the card.
