I arrived at about 13:00 PDT. It was clear sunny and hot with a breeze from the west. I had been smelling smoke earlier I think from a grass fire I saw northwest of Galt on my way up. But this afternoon I could see smoke drifting between the trees at one point. The grass is dry and crispy. I think the pond will go completely dry this summer.

I upgraded the LI-7550 boxes sn AIU-1869 and sn AIU-0666 firmware from v8.5.0 to v8.8.32. This was done mostly for standardization since we upgraded the Delta 7550s to try to improve time synchronization with the 7700s. The readings before and after the upgrade were nearly identical and all system settings seemed to be okay. Afterwards, I swapped the heads for calibration. At the Tower sn 75H-2150 came off and sn 0035 went on. At the Floor sn 75H-2176 came off and sn 0418 went on.

I updated the pressure coefficients and restarted the boxes. The new firmware will no longer create the summary files.

I tried to reinstall the IRT sensor I removed last time. Again I failed. Seems I soldered the resistor on wrong. I moved the existing IRT sn 7385 from the cal panel back to the grass location.

I did the well, Moisture Point, and DBH measurements. I collected the FD data, z-cams and other data loggers. Cows had broken the fence wires at soil CO2 and all around the Tower. The cows pulled weeds around the base of the tower and otherwise trampled the grass but I didnâ€™t find any chewed wires or disturbed equipment. The fence power was left off last time because it is so dry already. I think the cows are now gone.

The grass IRT by the little tree was out of its mount but still pointed in the correct direction. I put it back in its mount.

I left at about 16:00 PDT
