Summary: Floor well cable chewed and I could not get it working, grass IRT still not working, cows kicked the road well box some more, zcam 3 got moved a bit.

Hisashi, Kyoko and I arrived at about 11:00 PDT. It was clear, sunny and warm with a nice breeze from the southwest. No rain for the last month. The pond is less than half full, the ground is dry and almost crunchy. The trees are fully leafed out. The grass is short, sparse and going to seed.

Kyoko and Hisashi did the soil moisture and well measurements.

I collected all the data, FDs and read the dendrometers. The IRT CR1000 had to be reset to send data (as usual). Everything else looked okay. CO2 was very high and H2O was very low:
The Tower 7500 read: 413.9ppm CO2, 233.0mmol/m3 H2O, 26.1C, 99.3kPa, 100.4SS
The Floor 7500 read: 422.0ppm CO2, 185.6mmol/m3 H2O, 25.1C, 99.5kPa, 101.8SS

I tried to reinstall the grass IRT again â€“ target temp is bad. As far as I can tell all the wiring is okay and the sensor was reporting reasonable numbers when I connected it to the cable of the tree bole IRT. So I guess I need to open up the splice again and double check the connections.

Cows had also chewed the cable to the Floor well sensor. They had pushed the plastic conduit around until some wire was exposed and chewed a small section. There was enough slack to cut off the chewed section and reattach the cable but the sensor did not report numbers. It was getting power and the data lines had continuity. Maybe something got shorted in the chewing. Any way CTD-10 sn 1260403156 was brought in for testing.

Z-cam three had been rotated almost 180 to the west. I rotated it back. The other zcams seemed fine.

The road well box had been thoroughly kicked about again even though I had piled rocks on it. Again it seems to have survived and I piled more rocks on it.

We left for Vaira at about 13:20
