Dennis, Siyan and I arrive at about 11:30. Jennifer Holm and Sebastian Fiedler, modelers from LBNL, joined us to see the sites they use in their modeling efforts. It was clear, sunny and warm with little to no wind. It is still very dry with no rain in the forecast. The trees are definitely brown here.

Dennis collected the soil moisture data. Siyan did the manual well measurements, DBH, collected data from the soil co2, IRT, and well data loggers and service z-cam 1 and 2.

I collected the eddy data, the FLIR cal panel data and serviced z-cam 3.

I also tested the tipping buckets at OSU SP2 sn 48132-611 and SP3 sn 48102-611. I added pluggable screw terminals to the wires to make it easier to disconnect from the data loggers and plug into the calibration CR23x. After connecting the bucket to the CR23x, I dripped 475ml of water through the bucket which should result in 100tips. Both buckets recorded 103 tips and I did not adjust them.

At the top of the tower I cleaned the radiometers and checked on the Arable which had not been reporting recently. The Arable was unplugged from its power cable. The dome on its built-in solar panel is so cloudy I guess it doesnâ€™t produce enough power. After plugging it in, it seems to boot and has reported to the Arable web site now.

I removed the Floor Tower 7500 head sn 75H-2180 for use at Vaira because the 7500 there has failed probably with a bad source or detector.

The SMAP folks have been here again. Their METER Group mini weather station has been moved to the south side of the tower, but still looks like it might fall off.
