Bouldin Alfalfa

Camilo and I arrived at 9:50 after dropping Ari off at WP for water sampling. It was a mostly sunny, cool, and windy day with scattered clouds. The alfalfa was surprisingly green and lush, but not the tallest I’ve ever seen. Some of the alfalfa leaves had yellow splotches on them—maybe a nutrient deficiency or mildew problem.

Camilo did 6400 measurements and saw high photosynthesis values again. Five leaves were measured. 5 A/Ci curves and 4 light response curves. The light response curves were done immediately after completing the A/Ci curve. PAR was maintained at 1500 umol m-2 s-1 for the A/Ci curves. CO2 was maintained at 400 umol/mol for the light response curve. Chlorophyll content was measured and leaf was harvested.

I collected met, camera, USB GHG, and FD data. I cleaned flux/rad sensors, the Arables, precip bucket, and solar panels. I topped off the reservoir. I also took 5 clip plot samples and took vegetation height measurements. I did spectral under scattered clouds and 2-wand LAI measurements under a clear sky. The LAI measurements were taken walking N with a 270deg view cap.

I checked the sonic orientation using the lab compass: 235deg magnetic N.

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 427ppm
H2O 628ppm
T 17.1C
P 101.4kPa
SS 94--> 102 after cleaning
LI7700 readings:
CH4 1.97ppm
RSSI 39-->82 after cleaning

I left at 12:20 to service BC and returned at 13:40 to pick up Camilo. The back roads were very dusty. We left at 14:20 to pick up Ari at WP.
