Summary: Ran LGR on generator, changed FMTC from 36 to 40 gage, changed cr23x wiring and program.

Arrived about 8:30 with Jaclyn. Clear, sunny, light wind, warm. Lambs quarters continues to die back. Rice still patchy with some open water.

Set up LGR on generator again with inlet against sonic spar. I changed the CR1000 program to read the LGR analog channel with slower, higher resolution command. This seems to have fixed the poor resolution that was seen in last week’s data.

I swapped flash cards on the CR1000 before uploading new program. Loaded flash card had problems and did not record data, luckily I got the computer functional and a backup set of data was recorded there. LGR data from 0844 to 1330 PST.

New laptop was off when we arrived. Looks like hard crash – Loggernet was disturbed, had to delete its init files to restore its default settings. Com ports were swapped making initial connections to both data loggers not work.

I swapped out the Fine Wire Thermocouple (FWTC). I removed the old 36 gage (0.005in, 0.127mm dia) one and replaced it with a 40 gage (0.0031in, 0.07874mm dia) one. FWTC data still looks a bit smoothed in comparison to sonic temperature.

Changed wiring and program on CR23x. I moved the four soil heat flux plates to the AM25T to free up four differential ports on the 23X for future sensors – solar system voltage and current. Also found a bug in the program that was preventing the Theta probes from working properly. I downloaded all data from the 23X before uploading the new program. Also added the temperature from the water depth transducer to the end of the output file. Well is still not at the same level as the field.

Jaclyn made LAI measurements 100 meters out into the tower foot print. Also took LIA samples.

I worked on building a new base for more solar panels. We got it mostly painted and assembled.
