Summary: Swapped solar batteries, drilled hole for aligning pin.
East Pond 2018-07-17 I arrived at about 10:30 after dropping Elke, Katrina and Daphne off at West Pond for leaf chamber work. It was hot and sunny with a little breeze. I turned off all the solar power and removed the four remaining size 27 batteries from the battery bank sn BB-EP. These batteries were from Mayberry and were about seven years old. I replaced them with five brand new (July 2018 tags) size 31 Duracell deep cycle batteries. These are part number SLI31MDC and have a capacity of 105Ah. Size 27 are rated at 90Ah, so about the same capacity as six size 27s. After the swap the solar panels were feeding the batteries 20A. I checked the tower and everything was back up and running. The water level was at 51cm. At the other end of the pond I cleared tules away from the West Pond solar panels and the water level there was low enough that I could almost make it to the solar panels in hiking boots. The inlets were not running. I also drilled a hole in the eddy post an inserted the aligning pin so that the eddy sensors can be lowered for cleaning and raised again. I left at 11:20 |
