Summary: Standard fieldwork, upgraded soil CO2 system adding Eosense probes, measured instrument heights.

Daphne, Siyan and I arrived at about 10:30. I was mostly clear and sunny with a light variable breeze. There were thunder clouds over the sierras.

I reinstalled two of the Vaisala CO2 profiles and added a profile of four new Eosense CO2 probes. For the Vaisala profiles I moved the three cables from the West profile to the North profile and moved two of the cables from the North profile to the East profile. I made new frames that are staked to the ground with rebar and hold four PVC tubes at -2, -4, -8, and -16 cm deep. I used a drill to dig the holes. The tubes are pressed tightly to the bottom of the holes but I had to back fill some along the sides of the holes. There are now four probes at each location instead of three. The third TC was chewed at both ends. I cut off the bad parts shortening it and re-soldered the end. We forgot to bring the extra Vaisala probes with us so I left the 4cm locations empty.

The thermocouples for the East profile need to be double checked. All the labels need to be updated and the program needs to be double checked.

The Eosense probes were added to the end of the multiplexor â€“ four CO2 (purple) followed by four temperatures (blue). The cables have the bulky connectors on the ends. They also have a 0-5V range which is over range for the CR10x â€“ might replace with a CR23x.
