Summary: Set up Open Water Temporary Tower

Arrived at 10:00. It was sunny and clear with light wind.

Temporary Tower #1 Open Water

We set up the first of several temporary towers that will be running across the East End wetland over the summer. This one was at the Open Water location. The tower is on a tripod and we have a full set of eddy instruments on there: sonic sn 153803; LI-7500 sn 0065; LI-7700 sn TG1-0423; LI-7550 box sn AIU-0650;

We also have a set of met instruments: 2 Heat flux plates, a water level sensor, 10 thermocouples at two profiles with five depth: Tsoil at 0cm and -5cm below ground level; Twater at 15cm, 25cm, and 35cm above ground level. The thermocouples were wired to the CR6/AM25T in the field starting with one set at -5cm at port 1H/L and going upwards along the profile (-5, 0, 15, 25, 35) and starting the second set at port 6H/L with the -5cm soil and going up along the profile again.
There is also a net radiometer, this is above the grass along the levee right now, not above the wetland, since the boom is not long enough to reach the wetland. A PAR in sensor is also connected to the radiometer boom, although that might make more sense to be used as PAR out.
An HMP60 is also connected to the met. It is placed within a shield but the fan on the aspirator is not connected to power, so that is not running.

The water depth at the water level sensor was 46cm.

The height from the ground level to the middle of the sonic path was 3.20m but the tower is on the levee, so the ground level in the wetland is lower, probably approximately 1m (this should be checked).

The sonic is pointing at 35 degrees from magnetic north, so 49 degrees from true north.

Everything is power by two solar panels and two batteries.

LI7500 readings:
CO2 399.1 umol/mol
H2O 642.2 mmol/m3
T 28.51 Celsius
P 101.59 kPa
SS 99.2

LI7700 readings:
CH4: 1.9
RSSI: 67.3

Everything was running when we left the site. We should think about moving the met stuff into the patch of open water to have it be more representative.

Left around 16:00.
