Summary: Ted changing cr10x program.

Feb 23

Ted changing soil Cr10x program.removing line of junk.. Will reset the soil data loggers and remove Theta probe and soil heat flux from gmet

WHEN: Friday, 2/23/2001
WHERE: Sacramento, CA Dept. of Water Resources; Tonzi Ranch, Ione.
WHO: Nancy Kiang
(other people: Ted, Liu Kang fixing Vaira Ranch soil temperature
multiplexer and continuing to set up Tonzi Ranch understory system.
Kevin Tu, Francesca measuring soil respiration at Vaira Ranch.
WEATHER: Clear, patchy big clouds after rain, ~50° F. Water is ponding
on the ground, but ground is firm.

Sacramento. Arrived 9:00 am at CA Dept. of Water Resources, Office of
Photogrammetry and Mapping. They have 1981 B&W aerial photos of the Irish
Hill Road area, original negatives (1"=2000'), stereo images. Selected
two photos that cover the Tonzi Ranch. Other photos also cover the Vaira
Ranch. They provided names of aerial photo labs that will print the
photos, so we must obtain a cost estimate. These aerial photo labs may
also have their own stock of more recent photos.

Tonzi Ranch. Arrived ~10:45 am. Downloaded sapflow data. Set up coax
cables for MD9 between Set Q sapflow sensors and the understory eddy flux
system. Could not get the computer to see the MD9, although we tried
several different COM ports. Ted thinks that we can string up the various
systems via MD9's in the order:

Set P sapflow sensors - Set Q sapflow sensors - understory eddy flux -
overstory eddy flux

so that they are all along one line, and that it's unnecessary to stretch
coax cable twice to the far sapflow setup. So, we could return half of
that PVC pipe.
Liu Kang collected grass LAI from the Tonzi Ranch, within the
northwest footprint area, 3 samples under trees, 3 samples from the open.
