Summary: Installed Theta probe, swapped LGR 40um filter, pepper weed budding, cleaned earwigs from Vaisala probes

I arrived about 9:00 with Patty. We had to chase a cold garter snake out of the road on the way in. It was warm, clear and sunny with a nice breeze. The pepper weed is about 90cm tall, very dense and budding. I think this year has the most abundance of pepper weed that I have seen yet. It also seems to have some kind of fungus or blight making white spots on its leaves. Walking through it knock clouds of white dust into the wind.

I reinstalled the Theta probe sn 139/052 at 30cm below the surface to the west of the tower and cleaned up some of the wiring in the box.

The 7500 read: 16.6 mmol/m3 CO2, 650 mmol/m3 H2O, 100.85kPa, 23.4C, 249 diag.

The LGR read: 9:55 PST, 24.09C, 117.7Torr, 14.79usec, 10Hz, 2.05ppm
The pressure seemed kind of low, so I checked the 40um filter at the inlet â€“ it was almost completely plugged up. I replaced the screen and had to tighten down the bypass valve a couple of turns to get back to a good pressure â€“ 142.7Torr and CH4 dropped a little to 1.925.

The TC in Set 2 at -16cm read INF initially. I wiggled the wires and later it was reading okay.

The wells read 64cm at the box and 102.5cm in the north.

Patty did the soil respiration measurements. She chased the earwigs out of the Vaisala probes and blocked the enclosures with foam rubber. She tried to do the LAI 2000 measurements but the instrument was misbehaving, possibly due to a loose cable connection at the box.

I did spectral measurements. I extended the trip pod to its full height to get above the pepper weed.

The radiometers were clean and the camera was on.
