Summary: Standard fieldwork, things look very dry


When: Date: 09/04/2013 , Day: 247 , Watch Time: 10:50 am
Where: Tonzi/Vaira Ranch

Weather: clear, sunny, ~30oC, nice breeze
Phenology: dead grasses; leaves of oak trees turned into brown, like being torched; a large area of grassland by the road was packed by vehicles at Vaira, probably because the owner family did horse riding over there.

Summary
  1. Checked and downloaded data from PC at Tower, Floor.
  2. Download phenocam images from the small PC at Vaira
  3. Download Vaira Met and soil CO2 profile data from the field laptop.
  4. Swapped memory cards of CR1000s at three sites. Everything worked well.
  5. Calibrated CO2 profile system.
  6. Measured midday water potential.
  7. Read dendrometers
  8. Measured soil moisture
  9. Measure groundwater well:

Vaira_Grass Site
  1. Fence and gate power: 12 v.
  2. Panel and Batteries: - v; - amps; - amps.
  3. No PC at Vaira anymore and images were collected by Raspberry Pi.
  4. Swapped the memory cards of CR1000.
  5. Check the fans of air temp and relative humidity sensors at Vaira. YES!
  6. Download Vaira Met and soil CO2 profile data from the field laptop.

Tonzi_Tower Site

  1. Fence and gate power: 12 v.

  3. downloading data from PC. (no screen shots downloaded)
  4. forgot download phenocam images.
  5. Swapped the memory cards of CR1000.
  6. check the fans of air temp. and relative humidity sensors on the tower and the floor. YES!
  7. Check rain gage, make sure not clogged. YES!
  8. Check calibration cylinders;

CO2 1100 psig; flow 16 psi; 404.02 ppm.
N2 1700 psig; flow 10 psi.

  3. Reading from Gillsonic screen before downloading data. (The value of H2O and CO2 should be in the range of 0 – 5 v.)
