Summary: No Phenocam images recorded due to bad settings, updated Raspberry Pi, standard fieldwork
| Vaira 2013-05-30 I arrived about 9am PDT with Siyan. It was clear, sunny and warm with a light breeze. The grass is golden, the trees deep green and the sky was blue. The ground is very dry but the water hole still has water in it. There doesnt seem to be as much standing litter as last year and there were some bare patches like to cows had grazed or bedded down. I collected data while Siyan did the other fieldwork except for spectral since I forgot the computer. The Raspberry Pi was running just fine, but the settings in the Phenocam had reverted to previous version when the camera was powered down at night. I installed an updated 8GB SD card in the Pi. The new card has support for telnet, ejecting USB memory properly, and can set its clock from the CR1000 on start up. I also added a USB hub to provide an extra port for the serial connection to the CR1000. I redid the settings in the Phenocam and made sure they survived a power cycle. The radiation sensors were cleaned. Another thermocouple on the peltier profile has failed. |
