3610 2018-07-17 East Pond Battery Bank Upgrade East Pond Battery Bank I turned off all the solar power and removed the four remaining size 27 batteries. These batteries were from Mayberry and were about seven years old. I replaced them with five brand new (July 2018 tags) size 31 Duracell deep cycle batteries. These are part number SLI31MDC and have a capacity of 105Ah. Size 27 are rated at 90Ah, so about the same capacity as six size 27s. After the swap the solar panels were feeding the batteries 20A.
3557 2018-07-05 East Pond Battery Bank Maintenance East Pond Battery Bank This battery bank has been loosing power over night. We disconnected all the batteries and tested each one with the load tester. Two tested weak, were removed and brought home. These two may have been the ones lowest on water last time.
3436 2018-04-17 Lab none Installed East Pond Battery Bank This is the initial installation of this battery bank. The batteries are from Mayberry and are rather old with dates of July 2010 on them. They were removed from Mayberry when the power failed there but that was probably due to a broken wire rather than weak batteries. The batteries sat idle in the lab for a month or so and didn't seem to lose much charge. Some of them were charged up just before deployment.
