Summary: set up MOBILE TOWER at new growth site
| Set up the mobile tower in the new growth site in the south part of the wetland on the berm directly opposite the permanent Mayberry tower. Connected the solar panels - system was pulling 4 amps.
Initially had a problem connecting the sonic to the computer by the serial-to-USB dongle, but eventually got them to talk and realized that the sonic had incorrect ranges from U and V - changed these to 30 m/s from 5 m/s and all looked good. The system was recording data when we left. The base of the sonic to the ground is 304cm, with an additional 62cm from the base of the sonic to the middle of the path. The LI-7500 is 34cm from the sonic, and the LI-7700 is 22cm from the sonic. Everything was running well at the permanent site. The LI-7700 reservoir was full, and the RSSI was high, so we didn't clean the mirrors. We swapped USB drives in the LI-7550 box to download data. We also downloaded data from the tule tower to the field computer, as well as the photos from the Mayberry autocam. |
