Field Notes

Arrived about 9:30am PDT. Clear, cool, light breeze out of the north. Field is wet to the west and north, north ditch full, middle ditch west end full. Trucks running past field and to south, but seems they wetted the roads so dust is not too bad.

The computer had crashed and would not reboot, giving a disk error. Everything else seems okay. I used my laptop to connect to each data logger and down loaded all the internal data from each. Then I reconfigured things so that the main tower runs on the CR1000 and the sonic and IRGA on the tripod are not being recorded. I changed the main sonic setting from:

I moved the LI7500 SDM cable from the tripod tower to the main tower.

I disconnected the computer and brought it in for repair.

I swapped the cards on the CR1000.

All data (minus the tripod tower) should be recorded as long as the data logger’s internal memory holds out. This should be weeks for all but the fast radiation CR10X which should last about a week. The web cam will not be recorded until the computer is replaced.

I cleaned the radiation sensors (not very dirty) and checked the tipping bucket (clear).

There was a bug stuck in the 40um filter pressure was 126. After bug cleared LGR data:

9:29, 23.74C, 142.51Torr, 17.659usec, 2.026ppm

I looked around for LGR trailer logistics and tower location in the northern part of the field. The northern ditch makes it impossible to get a vehicle into the northern third of the field from the south. There is a driveway down off the levee to the north and a gate. Both are overgrown with vegetation, but could be cleared and probably used to get access to the northern third of the field.

Main power at the site is 100A. Two 20A breakers are in place. Turning off the main breaker will allow the installation of a third breaker for the LGR trailer. The distance from the power pole to the fenced area is about 18 feet. I accidentally flipped the main 100A breaker, systems came back up just fine on reset.
