2011-5-10 I arrived about 8:20 with Naama, Siyan and Ricardo. I dropped the others off at the site and then returned to the gate to meet Trenton and Rafael from University of Arizona who were there to install the COSMOS neutron based soil moisture sensor. The weather is cool and sunny with a little breeze. The trees seem to be fully leafed out. The grass is still mostly green and there seem to a few more varieties of wild flowers. Trenton and Rafael installed the COSMOS probe close to the tower to the south west. They also took soil cores on 60 degree radials from the probe at 25, 75, and 200m from the probe. The others worked on root pits and cores near Liukang’s tree with I did some of the field work. I downloaded data from The Tower and the Floor. I did the Moisture Point rounds. The probe near the floor solar panels and one west of the soil co2 cow fence seem to be bad. I also measured the wells; the water level is still high but falling. At the tower I did not calibrate the CO2 profile since Dennis did it last week. The radiation sensors on the top were clean, and the HMP45 fan was running. There is 12.8V at the top for the Sonic, LI7500, data logger and hopefully the UCAR isoprene emission gear to be mounted June 2nd. Two of the three sap flow data loggers seemed to be reporting. At the Floor site, I changed the daily rename batch files to make the daily names match the traditional names more closely by changing the prefix CR10X# to tz#. The tram seemed to be running fine. In the afternoon Siyan went to Vaira to do the work there and finished the Tonzi field work. I helped with the root survey at Luikang’s tree. Three pits dug there. Root survey field work as finished. Naama took GPS readings at the trees we did with GPR. |
