Summary: Continuing root survey with GPR, pits and cores.

Tonzi
5/5/2011

I arrived with Naama, and Siyan at about 9:30am. Laurie, Hanna and Ricardo arrive a little later. It was warm and sunny with very little breeze, but later in the day there was more of a breeze. We continued to do the root survey with GPR, coarse root pits and fine root cores.

Naama and I continued with the grid in the second cluster that we set up before going home yesterday. Three pits were marked here, two in the middle of the cluster and one outside the cluster to the south downhill side. The one outside the cluster was not so shallow but had a lot of clay.

Naama and I then set up a grid around Liukangs’s tree. This grid included two of the moisture point probes and a knee high seedling (bush) to the north of the main tree. Here we missed a line in the Y direction probably where the tree interfered with the grid.

Naama dragged some lines past the other Moisture Point probes near Liukang’s tree.

We helped a little at the first pit of the second cluster then left about 3pm.
