Joe, Kyle, and I arrived at 13:15 PST. It was sunny and mild. Yesterday Kuno and I were here to download data. Today, the three of us are moving the tower farther into the field so we can get the radiometers and soil sensors into the wheat.

I talked to Jose on Tuesday and he said they have finished planting and are done with tractor work until harvest. We can drive into the field for now, but once the wheat starts growing he would prefer we park on the dirt road and walk in.

We pulled up the fence posts, removed the single soil profile and Theta probe, and secured the jack feet to the scaffolding with bungee cords. We moved the tower about 2m into the field and rotated it so the radiometers are pointed south. Previously this tower was aligned with the field to minimize disturbance during alfalfa mowing/raking. We squared and leveled the tower.

Joe and Kyle moved the exiting soil profile (set#2/B) and the Theta probe from under the tower into the field. They also installed the other two soil profiles (sets 1/A, 3/C), the undercanopy PAR sensor, and the shorter Sentek soil profile (6 depths, 60cm deep).

I checked that the GHG data looked reasonable and I collected the met data since yesterday.

The 7500 read: 427ppm CO2, 307mmol/m3 H2O, 24.5C, 101.3kPa, 98SS

We left at 14:55 PST.
