Summary: Reinstalled GMP343 #3, power cycle fixed bad reading on GMP343 #1, fixed HISE #1 and #4, swapped 7500s for calibrations.

Dennis, Miao and I arrived at about 10:40 PDT. Miao Zhang is a visiting scientist in Trevor’s lab for the next two years and might want to work at Tonzi. It was clear sunny and mild. There is some haze on the horizons from smoke but I couldn’t smell anything. There are a few flowers in the wetter shady areas but the grass is almost all brown. There were four wheeler tracks in the grass like the cows have been rounded up.

The section of Carbondale Rd between Forest Home and Irish Hill Rd is closed for bridge (more like culvert) repair until October. There are Detour signs that take you farther along Hwy 16 to the other end of Carbondale Rd and you can come back to Irish Hill Rd from the other direction. Twin Cities Rd just east of I-5 is closed until the end of July. But you can go farther south on Hwy 99 and cut over to I-5 to get Hwy 12 back into the Delta. We used Hwy 12 from 99 to 5 but that goes through Lodi and has a lot of traffic lights. Probably better to take Peltier a few exits to the north.

I checked on HISE point dendrometers #1 and #4 that have been reading zero. I think I did not compress the pin far enough for a reading. I pushed the pins close against the trees and both were again reading in the 4000-7000 range. I measured the circumference of all five HISE trees. The serial connections were a little flakey and Lily Klinek emailed to say she is having similar problems with her HISE units. Seems the micro USB connectors wear out quickly.

I swapped the 7500 on the Floor tower: sn 75H-2176 came off and sn 0041 went on.
2176 read: 428.1ppm CO2, 397.7mmol/m3 H2O, 28.2C, 98.6kPa, 101.3SS
0041 read: 438.2ppm CO2, 327.7mmo/m3 H2O, 28.2C, 98.6kPa, 96.9SS
I update the pressure coefficients and reset the box.

I collected the Floor flux, Floor well, FD data and read the dendrometers. Dennis and Miao did the soil moisture and well readings and did midday leaf water potential.

I collected the Tower top data and swapped the 7500: sn 0073 came off and sn 0418 went on.
0073 read: 419.9ppm CO2, 340.2mmol/m3 H2O, 28.1C, 98.5kPa, 104.1SS
The screen shot of 0418 didn’t work – got a copy of 0073. I checked remotely and the config was all okay.

I reinstalled GMP343 sn N2210009 in the third (6m) location in the Tower CO2 profile. The lowest GMP343 was not reading – it seemed to be throwing an error or badly formatted serial string. I took it apart to show Dennis and Miao the sensor and Dennis suggested I plug it back in to test it again. It seemed to work after the power cycle. We will see for how long.

I service the zcams and collected the Road well data.

I still didn’t add serial number labels to the HISE sensors and forgot to update the Floor met program again. I might change the fmet program remotely.
