Bouldin Alfalfa: 2022-11-30 14:00:00 (DOY 334)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Joe
Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, decomissioned sonic and RH/T intercomparison, woke up a lot of sleepy wasps, moved Mark 3 to western side of scaffolding
2022-11-30 Bouldin Alfalfa Joe and I arrived at 14:00 PST. It was mild and sunny with scattered thin clouds. There is wheat planted in the previously corn/alfalfa fields north of the barn. The fields south of the barn (between the barn and our alfalfa field) are still in progress and being worked on by tractors. There was also some levee work going on between the barn and our alfalfa fields—the tractor driver redirected us off the levee road onto the dirt road that runs along the base of the levee. I’ll follow up with Dave Forkel about whether and when we need to remove our equipment. I started with downloading the intercomparison data. All looked ok so we decommissioned all of the sensors and enclosures. We double-checked the wiring, serial numbers, and sonic headings before Joe removed everything. The wiring and serial numbers matched what we recorded in the 2022-11-02 field note. The sonic headings were pretty close, generally w/in 5 degrees, although one sonic heading was 12deg off. I added the sonic headings we measured today to the 2022-11-02 field note. There were a bunch of sleepy wasps in the two datalogger enclosures. I tasked Joe with de-wasping them, and by the end of our visit the air was full of awake wasps. We took some wasps back to the lab in the sonic boxes, and Joe had to chase them all outdoors the next day. Sensors/dataloggers removed: Sonics sn 152603 sn 153804 sn 152606 sn 152601 sn 152605 sn 152608 RH/T sensors HMP45, sn T1020004 HMP45, sn D4420029 HMP45, sn D4420028 HMP155, sn T2930114 HygroVUE10, sn E3452 HygroVUE10, sn E3514 I cleaned flux and rad sensors. The LWin and SWin sensors were both dirty. I downloaded the usual data: met, cam, USB GHG, FD, and IRT. Joe restarted the Mark 3, which did not boot after we installed it at our last visit. Joe re-located it to the west side of the tower (solar panel is facing ~east) and confirmed with Loreli that it was online. The 7500 read: 428ppm CO2, 317mmol/m3 H2O, 19.1C, 101.2kPa, 101SS -- 104 after cleaning We left at 15:45 PST. |
