Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, battery action packer shifted partly off boardwalk, ants in met box, changed phenocam text overlay, diffuse PAR slightly tilted--fixed temporarily, changed eddy clock +1:30min
2022-07-13 Gilbert Tract Ari and I arrived to Flo (the flowmeter) at 17:50 PDT. It was breezy and mild. The water level was high; it was near the lower high tide of the day. We observed azolla, water hyacinth, and clumps of cattail growing along the channel edges. When we connected to the ADCP, the GUI warned us there was a time difference of 8229 days, 16:54:29 hours between the instrument and the laptop (the laptop was at 16:55 PST). However, after we downloaded data, the last point was at 2022-07-13 17:40 so the instrument clock seems fine. We restarted data collection. We arrived at the tower at 18:10 PDT. The staff gauge read 87cm. Ari noticed the battery box (action packer) was 1/3 hanging off of the boardwalk. With both of our efforts, we pushed the battery box back securely onto the boardwalk. Maybe someone wanted to steal the batteries and then gave up. I opened up the action packer and checked the battery terminals--all looked snug. I did not check the charge controller enclosure since there was plenty of slack between the action packer and the charge controller enclosure. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG. I downloaded miniDOT data and swapped its desiccant. I changed the eddy clock +1:30min from 17:29 to 17:30:30 to match the laptop time. I restarted logging afterwards. There were hella ants in the met enclosure—I left some mothballs and will need canned air next time. We’ve been missing a lot of eosGP data from mid-May to mid-June but the past few weeks actually look fine. I’m not sure what the issue is. Ari cleaned the flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir. She checked the 7700 fuse and it looked ok with no condensation in the fuse cap. I added a screw to the RSB box holding the motor in place to replace the one I dropped previously. The diffuse PAR sensor was slightly off level. The wooden post is slightly tilted because the cutouts in the 4x4 don’t quite match up with the scaffolding rails. I added a shim for now but it needs a more permanent fix. I changed the phenocam text overlay from “testcam” to “gilberttract" upon request from Phenocam and saved config. I had noticed a smudge in the middle of the phenocam window so Ari cleaned the inside and outside of the camera enclosure. We topped off the wash reservoir and did our best to clean the dusty and poopy solar panels before we left at 19:10 PDT. |
