Summary: Upgrade sap flow batteries and add spray foam insulation
| WHO: Nancy Kiang (drove with: Ted Hehn) WHERE: Tonzi Ranch WHEN: 1/10/2002 WEATHER: 60's F. Sunny, mild. WHAT: Replace batteries and improve insulation for sapflow setups. Arrived 11:00 PST. All trees are fully senesced (since December), no dead leaves remaining on trees. There are running streams and standing water,and Tonzi's reservoir is full. According to Mr. Tonzi, the weather is unusually mild; normally this time of year it is closer to freezing. Replaced batteries to both sapflow sites, switching the small wheelchair batteries with large batteries that were left over from the solar panel systems. The large batteries are attached external to the datalogger boxes. -tz5: bad wheelchair battery (black color), does not retain charge (these two black batteries were bought in Sacramento, and both are bad). 11:50 PST finished, starting logging data at 12:00 noon. -tz4: 13:30 PST finished, started logging data at 14:00 PST. -Applied foam spray sealant to all sapflow sensors for insulation (except for Tree 71, which needs heater replaced). |
