Summary: Monthly surface and porewater collection

Erin (UCSCS) and I arrived at 9:00 am at Mayberry. It was a sunny day with a light breeze. The water level was higher than usually (forgot to write down the staff gauge measurement but it was > 54 cm) and there was water flowing downstream at the outlets. The inlets were off.

Erin and I sampled surface water samples at the tower, 0.5, 0.7, 0.8 and 0.9 footprint locations. Then porewaters were collected at the tower channel (-50 cm) at the 0.5 and 0.7 footprint sites (-10,-20,-30,-50) and at the channel towards the west (0.8 footprint site at -10 and -30 cm). We used the same combination of samplers (portable sipper + syringe assembly and/or Sedpoints + peri pump) as in our last visit. I wore the new waders!! but I lost my sunglasses trying to find the route to our 0.7 and 0.8 footprint sites.

Conductivity/salinity in surface waters keeps decreasing

Readings at the tower channel (surface waters):
Conductivity: 1468 uS
Salinity: 0.76 ppt
pH: 7.89
T: 24.5 C

Average porewater values:
Conductivity: 7191 uS
Salinity: 4.40 ppt
pH: 6.70
T: 21.2 C
