Bouldin Alfalfa: 2020-04-27 00:00:00 (DOY 118)
Author: Camilo Rey-Sanchez

Summary: Alfalfa A-Ci curves
Cassie and I arrived at 9:30 AM. The Alfalfa was recently cut but there were some tall alfalfa under the tower. They looked healthy for the most part, although there were a few plants that looked a bit dry. We set a tarp next to the tower and set the Li-6400 underneath it to prevent it from over-heating. 5 leaves were measured with the usual rage of CO2 concentrations in order: 400,300,200,150,100,50,400,500,600,800,1000,1300 ppm. The light as kept at 1500 umol m-2 s-1, and the temperature was set to ambient. After completing the curve, I measured chlorophyll content, and cut the leaf and put it in an envelope to bring to the lab. We did a light response curve on the last leaf. The Amax increased a bit throughout the day as temperatures rose. At the end, Cassie and I cut the remaining Alfalfa under the tower and left the site at 2:30 PM. |
