Summary: Grass is growing, trees are bare, standard fieldwork, fixed TC on FLIR, problems with FLIR cal equipment, collected FD data, electric fences back on.

Siyan and I arrived at 11:30. It was cool and sunny with little to no wind. There was rain yesterday and the ground was wet with puddles in the road but not sloppy yet. The trees are bare. The grass is growing but only about 3 to 5cm high. I did not notice any difference in the grass under the trees versus the open areas.

I checked the Tower computer â€“ all seemed well. The FLIR images looks okay. The FLIR window thermocouples had not been remounted when Miriam and Ana put the camera back. The outside fine wire TC had broken a while ago. I stripped and twisted the 24 gauge TC together and stuck it to the bottom, outside of the window with putty. Iâ€™m not sure it will hold as the wind knocks the wire about. Inside the box I stuck the fine wire TC to the bottom of the window with some putty.

Thermocouple 5 on the FLIR cal panel was reading bad and the target temperature of the Apogee IRT pointed at the tree bole was way high. I did not see any problems with the hardware. We will need to look at the data to see when they went bad to see if there is some clue to the cause.

The HMP45 fan at the Tower top was not spinning. I did not have another 12V fan but put on a 24V fan. I should probably run a new 24V power line rather than swapping the fan. The Arable is attached to the same line so it needs its own 12V line.

I collected the eddy, met and camera data. Siyan did the field measurements.

I collected the FD Chamber data and cleared the chambersâ€™ memories. We could use another DB-9 screw terminal adapter for the FD serial line.

I replaced a small gauge on tree 79â€™s dendrometer using two sided tape. We have three more dendrometers in the lab but they are all missing one gauge or the other. Iâ€™ll see if I can order more gauges. We had been reading it by the edge of the slider but there is about a 2mm offset to the gauge as I reattached it.

I repaired the electric fences around the soil co2 and Tower sites and turned on the power.

We left about 2pm.
