Summary: Redeployed fluorometer without cap
2019-08-21 Mayberry Camilo and I arrived at 15:05 PDT. It was a warm and sunny day with cirrus clouds near the horizon. The water level was 32 cm. This was a quick stop to redeploy the fluorometer, which we had thoroughly cleaned in the lab. We checked that the fluorometer was sending messages to the met datalogger. I also cleaned the staff gauge with a scrubby sponge. We had trouble screwing the shade cap on, so we deployed it without the cap. The manual says, “We recommend use of the shade cap as it provides a fixed distance for calibration and sample measurement and minimizes effects from ambient light.†I’m not sure how much ambient light reaches the fluorometer ~30 cm below the water surface. We will monitor the data to see if we can tell a difference. |
