Bouldin Corn: 2019-07-26 07:30:00 (DOY 207)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Camilo, Katrina
Summary: 6400 measurements, regular data download/cleaning, LAI, veg height, knocked down wasps' nest
2019-07-26 Bouldin Corn Camilo, Katrina, and I arrived at 7:30. It was a sunny and mostly clear day. It was mild when we arrived but warmed up to 32 degC. The corn is green and > 2m tall. We were able to drive through the red gate by the overpass. Camilo and Katrina worked on LI-6400 measurements. Their two chambers were set up under the radiometers. We used line power with one chamber and the other chamber used two 9-cell batteries over the day. They measured ACi curves over a range of CO2 concentrations and light-response curves (LRC) over a range of light levels with a saturating flash of light. Four A/Ci curves and five LRC were measured. One A/Ci curve was measured under 2% O_2 concentration and the other three under regular air passed through the mixer at 400 ppm. Three LRC were measured on the same leaves used for regular A/Ci curves by the same section of the leaf, and two extra LRC were measured on other leaves. Light response curves were done with the Li-6400XT and included measurements of fluorescence. The A/Ci curves were done with the Li-6400 using the 2x3 LED cuvette. I downloaded met, camera, USB GHG, Purple Air, and zcam data. I took 1-wand LAI measurements facing W because the usual tripod was needed for 6400 work. File BC0726 had A/B measurements reversed and A measurements only before B measurements. File BC0726-2 had A measurements before and after B measurements, with 3 logs per row of corn. I cleaned flux and rad sensors, the Arable solar panels and sensors, phenocam window (spiderwebs), and the precip funnel (had a few beetle-shaped exoskeletons). The wash reservoir was mostly full; I topped it off. LI-7500 readings: CO2 389 ppm H2O 674ppm T 22.7C P 100.9kPa SS 96--> 98 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 1.9ppm RSSI 32-->85 after cleaning We left at 13:40, but stopped by briefly at 14:40 after leaving BA to knock down a wasp's nest under the upper boardwalk (we had noticed it earlier but forgot to knock it down). |
