Field Notes

Weather: Sunny, breeze, not hot
Phenology: Oak leaves looked more yellow. Dead grass.

Summary & Problems

1. Overall, three Flux towers were working well. Data were downloaded. However, the laptop screen at Tower and Floor site still didn’t work well. Once in a while, I even couldn’t see anything on the screen.
2. I swapped Li-7500 in Tower and Floor site.
3. Soil surface was still extremely dry. Leaf turned to be more yellow. Most of the seedlings were yellow, but some looked healthy and green/red.
4. Oak leaves were sampled, and soil moisture was measured.
5. JPL will fly over Tonzi site. Qi Chen collected ground spectrum data to correct atmospheric effect. JPL may fly one more time because of the smoke in the sky.
6. Matthias measured spectrum.

Tonzi_Tower Site

1. Fence and gate power: >12.0 v.
2. Panel and Batteries: 14.3 v; 0.0 amps; 2.3 amps.
3. Reading from Gillsonic screen before downloading data, but I couldn’t see anything on the laptop screen after I saw the gillsonic graphs. I restarted the laptop, and it worked fine

4. Wwap Li-7500 with help of Larry. Remove sn 0418 and install sn 0042
5. Check the dataloggers. They worked well.
6. The calibration cylinders were not on.
7. Close gate and set up fence.

Toniz_Floor Site

1. Fence and gate power: >12.0 v.
2. Panel and Batteries: 13.7 v; 16.0 amps; 2.1 amps.
3. The laptop screen didn’t work well. After I restarted the laptop, the screen started working for me but still shining all the time.

4. Swap Li-7500. Remove sn 0073 and install sn 0065. (sn 0073 will be sent to Licor for recalibration.)
