Summary & Problems

1. Overall, three Flux towers were working well. Data were downloaded. However, the Floor-site laptop screen didn’t show anything when I got there. After I restarted the laptop twice, the screen started working for me but still flushing all the time. Thus, the Floor-site laptop needs to be replaced soon.
2. The battery in the open site of Soil CO2 profile was 10.986v, lower than normal 12.0v. I reconnected the power line to another good battery. I was not sure whether the batteries were connected to solar panels. I should bring the dead battery back, but I didn’t realize it until I was on my way to Berkeley. Ted, could you bring a fully-charged battery to there and double check the battery connections if you are planning to visit the site next week. Thank you.
3. I removed Gashound Li-800 sn AKC-0479 from the tower site according to Ted’s request and instruction.
4. Soil surface was still extremely dry. I didn’t see any evident of rain in both sites. Soil moisture measurement was done.
5. Oak leaves were sampled.

Tonzi_Tower Site

1. Fence and gate power: >12.0 v.
2. Panel and Batteries: 13.5 v; 0.0 amps; 3.7 amps.
3. Reading from Gillsonic screen before downloading data. (The value of H₂O and CO₂ should be in the range of 0 – 5 v.)

5. Remove Gashound Li-800.
   • Unplug power to the pump
   • Unplug power to Li_800
   • Unplug power to the datalogger
   • Close the CO₂ and N₂ calibration tank.
6. Close gate and set up fence.

Toniz_Floor Site

1. Fence and gate power: >12.0 v.
2. Panel and Batteries: 13.8 v; 14.9 amps; 2.4 amps.
